The specs, in plain English

How to read a listing without getting fooled

When you read a hiking-boot listing, translate the trademarks into the five traits that matter. A named outsole (Contagrip, Vibram, Omni-Grip and the like) tells you little on its own; look instead at lug depth and whether owners say the rubber lasts or wears smooth.
