Our promise: transparency
We believe you deserve to know how a website makes money before you trust its recommendations. Real Buyer Experiences (realbuyerexperiences.com) is a reader-supported site, and we want to be upfront: some of the links on this Site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission when you buy through them. This disclosure explains exactly what that means, in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) guidance on endorsements and the requirements of the affiliate programs we participate in.
What affiliate links are
An affiliate link is a special web link that tells a retailer we referred you. If you click one of our affiliate links and then make a qualifying purchase, the retailer pays us a small commission for the referral.
This costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you would pay if you visited the retailer directly. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket. We never add fees, and using our links is always optional.
Amazon Associates disclosure
Real Buyer Experiences is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Other affiliate programs
In addition to Amazon, we may participate in other affiliate and advertising programs from time to time. When we do, the same principles apply: the links may earn us a commission, they never cost you more, and our editorial views are not for sale. Where a specific program requires its own disclosure language, we will include it alongside the relevant content.
Where you will see disclosures
Consistent with FTC guidance that disclosures should be clear, conspicuous, and close to the recommendation, we aim to make our affiliate relationship obvious. You will typically find:
- A short disclosure near the top of, or within, articles that contain affiliate links;
- Clear labeling of buttons and links that lead to retailers;
- This standing Affiliate Disclosure page, linked from our footer and menu.
If you ever see a product recommendation on this Site, you should assume it may contain affiliate links unless we state otherwise.
Our editorial independence
Earning a commission never changes what we honestly think about a product. Our reviews and buyer experiences reflect our genuine opinions. Specifically:
- We are not paid by manufacturers or retailers to write positive reviews, and a commission does not buy a good rating.
- We recommend products we believe offer real value, and we are willing to point out drawbacks and downsides.
- Commission rates never determine our rankings or which products we feature.
- We may earn a commission whether a review is positive or critical — so our incentive is to be useful to you, not to oversell.
Product information, prices, and availability can change quickly. We may receive some products at a discount or for evaluation; when that materially affects a review, we will say so. Always confirm the current details on the retailer’s own website before you buy, as described in our Terms of Service.
