The Herpstat 2 is the only unit in this group that can be set to dimming for a basking bulb on one output and pulse for a ceramic emitter or mat on the other, with two independent probes and a documented safety relay. The Zoo Med dimming unit does the single most common job, controlling one basking bulb, for a lot less money, and its instruction sheet is unusually clear about where the probe goes.
