Beeswax Wraps: Which to Buy and Which to Skip
We compared six reusable wax food wraps on fabric, wax blend, sizes in the set, care limits, stated lifespan and what each maker says happens at the end of a wrap's life.
The short version
The Bee's Wrap Assorted 3 Pack is the best overall pick: GOTS-certified organic cotton, a size for most jobs, clear care rules, and a plant-wax vegan version in some prints. The etee Beeswax Food Wrap Sampler is the value pick, with five wraps at a budget tier, though it gives no country of manufacture. The SuperBee Essentials 5-pack suits anyone covering large platters and loaves, with XL and XXL sizes and the longest stated lifespan here at up to two years. Meli Wraps fits buyers who want Hawaiian beeswax and a published wash count, and The Honey Jar Family Size Combo suits big-bowl households who only need two wraps. Skip the Z Wraps 5-Pack: it publishes no lifespan and no composting guidance, and stock is patchy. Best for: most kitchens should start with Bee's Wrap, and shoppers buying on budget should pick etee.

A wax wrap is cotton coated in wax, resin and oil that softens under the warmth of your hands and holds a fold, which makes it a reusable stand-in for plastic film on cheese, bread, cut produce and bowls. The differences that matter are the fabric, the size mix, what the maker says about raw meat and heat, and how long the maker says the wrap lasts. We compared six sets from six brands using only what each maker publishes, and called out the gaps where a maker publishes nothing. One of the six also comes in a plant-wax version for anyone avoiding beeswax.

The best documented wax wrap set here, made in Vermont from GOTS-certified organic cotton, with a plant-wax option.
Best for: Most kitchens that want one reliable starter set with clear care rules.
- The three sizes (7 x 8, 10 x 11 and 13 x 14 inches) cover a lemon half up to a mid-size bowl.
- The maker names GOTS-certified organic cotton and B Corp status, and states the wraps are made in Vermont.
- Vegan prints replace beeswax with candelilla and soy wax, so one product line covers both types of buyer.
- The stated lifespan is up to a year, shorter than the claims from SuperBee and Meli Wraps.
- Three wraps do not go far in a busy kitchen, and the largest is smaller than the big sizes from SuperBee.
- The vegan version contains coconut and soy, which matters for anyone avoiding those ingredients.

Best for: Budget buyers who want enough wraps to keep several in rotation.
- Five wraps (two 7 x 8, two 10 x 11, one 12 x 14 inches) give the most everyday pieces for the money in this group.
- The maker specifies organic cotton muslin and USDA certified organic beeswax.
- Limits are clear: no microwave, oven, hot food or uncooked meat, and no more than a month in the freezer.
- The product page does not state where the wraps are made.
- The wraps are called biodegradable, but no composting steps are given.
- No refreshing or rewaxing guidance appears on the product page.
- The coating includes soy wax, so it is not a pure beeswax blend.

The pick for big jobs, with XL and XXL sizes in the 5-pack and the longest stated lifespan here.
Best for: Households that bake bread or cover serving dishes and want large sizes.
- The 5-pack runs from 8 x 8 inches up to 12 x 19 and 16 x 19 inches, large enough for platters and loaves.
- The stated lifespan is up to two years with proper care, the longest in this group.
- The maker lists GOTS-certified cotton and B Corp status, and publishes both composting steps and an oven refresh method.
- Designs are randomly selected, so you cannot choose the prints in a pack.
- Wraps are made in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and the listed delivery estimate to the USA is 5 to 14 days.
- The product text is inconsistent, describing a set of 3 or 5 on a page selling a 5 or 9 pack.

Handmade in Hawaii with Hawaiian beeswax and a published wash count, but light on care detail.
Best for: Buyers who care about Hawaiian-made goods and a stated wash count.
- The maker publishes a specific figure: up to 150 washes or 1 to 2 years.
- The cotton is GOTS certified organic and the beeswax is local to Hawaii.
- The 10 x 16 inch large wrap is a useful long shape for sandwiches and loaves.
- The pages we read give no composting or refresh guidance.
- Only three wraps, and the 7 x 7 inch small is the tightest small here.
- Stock varies by print, and one variety pack showed as unavailable when we checked.
- The site warned of longer shipping times through December.

Two oversized wraps for big bowls and loaves, with American beeswax and a short ingredient list.
Best for: Cooks with big bowls who already own smaller wraps or containers.
- The large wrap measures about 20 x 18 inches and the medium about 10 x 16 inches, generous for the pack size.
- The ingredient list is four items: cotton, beeswax, pine resin and jojoba oil.
- Beeswax is American and the wraps are handmade in the USA, and the maker says the cotton prints are imported.
- You get only two wraps and no small size for cut fruit.
- Sizes are approximate because each wrap is hand cut, and the cotton has no organic claim.
- The maker says to refresh wraps when they tire, but gives no steps on the page.
- Composting is not mentioned on the product page.

- Five wraps is a useful count for a household.
- No lifespan is published; the listing says only 'long lasting'.
- The listing gives no composting guidance and no statement on raw meat.
- The fabric is 100% cotton with no organic claim.
- One of the two 5-pack print combinations and both 3-packs showed as sold out when we checked.

How we judged the field
Five things separate wax wraps. The fabric comes first, because a wrap is only as durable as the cotton under the wax, and only some makers name a certification such as GOTS. The coating decides cling and whether the wrap suits a vegan or someone avoiding soy or coconut. The size mix decides whether the set covers real jobs, from half a lemon to a loaf. Care limits matter because heat melts the coating, and most makers rule out raw meat. Last is the stated lifespan and what the maker tells you to do when the wrap wears out.
The field splits into established brands with full care pages and small makers with shorter listings. We looked for sets you could buy in November 2026, which ruled out several names. Abeego’s site carries a closure notice, Nature Bee has paused shipments to the United States, Simple Ecology’s vegan wraps and Khala & Co’s vegan wraps showed as sold out where we looked, and LilyBee’s Reverie set was unavailable. The six here are the sets that remained, with one skip for the listing that tells a buyer the least.
Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack
Buy itThe Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack earns the top spot because it answers nearly every question a buyer has. The small is 7 x 8 inches, the medium 10 x 11 and the large 13 x 14, which covers a cut lemon, a block of cheese and a mid-size bowl. The fabric is GOTS-certified organic cotton, the coating is beeswax, organic plant oil and tree resin, and the maker says the wraps are made in Vermont. It also holds B Corp status. Care is simple: cool water, mild dish soap, air dry, and no heat of any kind, including warm water and hot cars. The stated life is up to a year, and when a wrap wears thin the maker suggests cutting it into strips for compost. Some prints are the vegan version, which swaps beeswax for candelilla and soy wax and contains coconut and soy. The trade-off is that three wraps is a small set and the lifespan claim is modest. Buy it if you want one dependable starter set.
etee Beeswax Food Wrap Sampler
Buy itThe etee Beeswax Food Wrap Sampler is the value pick because it puts five wraps in your kitchen at a budget tier. You get two small wraps at 7 x 8 inches, two medium at 10 x 11 and one large at 12 x 14, on organic cotton muslin coated with USDA approved certified organic beeswax, coniferous tree resin, soy wax and organic jojoba oil. The limits are spelled out clearly: no microwave, oven, hot food or uncooked meat, and no more than a month in the freezer. The stated lifespan is up to a year, matching Bee’s Wrap. The gaps are in the paperwork. The page does not say where the wraps are made, calls them biodegradable without composting steps, and offers no refresh advice. The set was marked down when we checked, so the budget tier may shift. Anyone avoiding soy should note the wax blend. Buy it if you want several wraps in rotation and care more about count than brand transparency.
SuperBee Essentials Beeswax Wraps 5 & 9 Pack
Buy itThe SuperBee Essentials Beeswax Wraps 5 & 9 Pack stands out for size. The 5-pack gives you one of each: small 8 x 8 inches, medium 10 x 10, large 13 x 13, XL 12 x 19 and XXL 16 x 19, and those last two handle platters and whole loaves. The 9-pack is three each of small, medium and large, so pick it for quantity and the 5-pack for reach. The wraps use GOTS-certified organic cotton, beeswax, coconut oil and tree resin, and SuperBee states a lifespan of up to two years, the longest here. It is also a Certified B Corp and describes home composting in thin strips. The maker publishes an oven refresh method too, which most rivals skip. The compromises are real, though. Designs are chosen at random, wraps ship from Chiang Mai, Thailand, with a listed 5 to 14 days to the USA, and the page copy is inconsistent about pack sizes. Choose it if you bake bread or cover big dishes.
Meli Wraps Avocado Print 3-Pack
It dependsThe Meli Wraps Avocado Print 3-Pack is the choice for buyers who like the story behind it. The wraps are made in Hawaii with local Hawaiian beeswax on GOTS certified organic cotton, with natural tree extracts and plant oils. Meli gives a rare specific figure: up to 150 washes, or 1 to 2 years with typical use. The 3-pack holds a 7 x 7 inch small, a 10 x 10 medium and a 10 x 16 large, and that long large shape suits a sandwich or a loaf better than a square does. The care advice is the familiar mild soap and cool water, and the FAQ says to avoid raw meat, hot water and hot foods. Beyond that the pages go quiet: there is no composting or refresh guidance. Stock also varies by print, and the site warned of longer shipping times through December. We rate it depends because the materials are strong but the documentation is thinner than Bee’s Wrap. It suits buyers who value Hawaiian-made goods.
The Honey Jar Beeswax Food Wraps Family Size Combo
It dependsThe Honey Jar Beeswax Food Wraps Family Size Combo is the odd one out, and for some kitchens that is the point. Instead of a spread of sizes you get two wraps: a medium at about 10 x 16 inches and a large at about 20 x 18 inches. The maker notes that sizes are approximate because each wrap is hand cut. That large wrap covers more than any single wrap in the Bee’s Wrap set, which helps with big salad bowls and loaves. The ingredient list is short: cotton, beeswax, pine resin and jojoba oil, with American beeswax and imported cotton prints, and the wraps are handmade in the USA. The stated life is about a year of regular use, and the maker says to skip raw meat, hot food, the microwave and the oven. The weak spots are the lack of a small wrap, no organic claim on the cotton, and no refresh steps or composting advice on the page. It is a good add-on for cooks who already own smaller wraps.
Z Wraps 5-Pack
Skip itThe Z Wraps 5-Pack looks reasonable at first. It holds two 8 x 8 inch wraps, two 12 x 12 and one 12 x 15, made in the USA from 100% cotton, organic beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin. The sizes are generous, and the maker’s care line is the usual cool water and mild soap. The problem is what the listing leaves out. There is no lifespan figure beyond the phrase long lasting, no composting guidance, no statement on raw meat and no certification on the fabric. Every other maker here covers at least some of those points. Buying is also awkward. The brand has moved under its parent company site, KAF Home, one of the two 5-pack print combinations showed as sold out, and both 3-packs were sold out when we checked. The product is not bad, but at the same wrap count etee gives you organic cotton, clearer limits and a lower price tier. Skip it unless you find the print you want.

Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack vs etee Beeswax Food Wrap Sampler: which should you buy?
Bee’s Wrap and etee overlap more than their tiers suggest. Their small and medium wraps are nearly the same size, both start from organic cotton, and both state a lifespan of about a year. The difference is in what you get and what you are told. etee gives five wraps with a 12 x 14 inch large, while Bee’s Wrap gives three with a 13 x 14 inch large, plus a stated Vermont origin, GOTS certification on the cotton, B Corp status, composting steps and a vegan option.
Choose by what bothers you more. If you want a documented supply chain, or need a plant-wax wrap, buy Bee’s Wrap. If you want the most wraps for the money and are comfortable with a page that does not say where they are made, buy etee. Households that go through wraps quickly will likely prefer etee’s count, and first-time buyers testing the idea are well served by either one.
Who should buy which
- First-time wrap buyers: the Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack. Three useful sizes and the clearest care and material details in the group.
- Budget shoppers: the etee Beeswax Food Wrap Sampler. Five wraps at a budget tier with clear limits on heat and uncooked meat.
- Vegans and beeswax avoiders: the Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack. The vegan prints replace beeswax with candelilla and soy wax, though they contain coconut and soy.
- Bread bakers and platter hosts: the SuperBee Essentials Beeswax Wraps 5 & 9 Pack. The 5-pack includes 12 x 19 and 16 x 19 inch wraps.
- Buyers who want Hawaiian-made goods: the Meli Wraps Avocado Print 3-Pack. Made in Hawaii with local beeswax and a stated 150 washes.
- Big-bowl households with small wraps already: the The Honey Jar Beeswax Food Wraps Family Size Combo. Two oversized wraps, including one of about 20 x 18 inches.
What to look for
- Named fabric: Look for a stated certification such as GOTS, since plain cotton tells you nothing about how the fabric was grown or processed.
- A size that fits your jobs: Check the inches, not the words small and large, because one maker’s large is 12 x 14 and another’s is 20 x 18.
- A clear coating list: Makers should name the wax, resin and oil, which also lets you spot soy, coconut or a plant-wax blend.
- Raw meat and heat rules: A good listing says what the wrap is not for, and most makers here rule out raw meat, hot food and the microwave.
- A stated lifespan: Expect about a year from most makers, and treat a listing that says only long lasting as a gap.
- End-of-life advice: The better makers explain composting in strips, and some also explain how to refresh a tired wrap.
Our final take
For most people the Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack is the right first purchase, because it covers the common jobs and tells you exactly what it is made from and how to care for it. If you are buying on budget, the etee Sampler gets five wraps into the kitchen at a lower tier. Go to SuperBee for big platters and loaves, and to The Honey Jar if you only need two large pieces. Meli Wraps is a fine choice for buyers who value Hawaiian-made goods. Skip Z Wraps until its listing says more. Whichever you choose, keep wraps away from heat and raw meat.
Questions, answered
Do beeswax wraps actually keep food fresh?
They work as a cover that clings to itself or to a bowl, and makers aim them at produce, cheese, bread and leftovers. Bee's Wrap lists fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, cheese, bread and leftovers as ideal uses. The seal comes from warming the wrap with your hands and pressing it into shape. It is not an airtight container, so wet or saucy food still belongs in a lidded box. Our food storage containers review covers that side of the job.
Can you use beeswax wraps on raw meat?
No maker in this group recommends it where the topic comes up. Bee's Wrap, etee, Meli Wraps and The Honey Jar all say to keep wraps away from raw meat, and Bee's Wrap adds fish. SuperBee says its wraps are not safe for meat, fish or eggs because they cannot be washed in hot water. Z Wraps does not address the question on its listing. Use a washable container for raw meat instead.
How long do beeswax wraps last?
Published claims range from about a year to two years, usually with proper care as a condition. Bee's Wrap and etee say up to a year, The Honey Jar says about a year, Meli Wraps says up to 150 washes or 1 to 2 years, and SuperBee says up to two years. Z Wraps publishes no figure. Bee's Wrap says a wrap is finished when it has worn thin and has trouble sticking to itself. Treat these as maker claims, since use and heat exposure will change the result.
Can you put beeswax wraps in the freezer or microwave?
Keep them out of the microwave and oven during normal use, as every maker that addresses heat warns against it. Freezer guidance is more mixed. etee advises against more than a month of freezer use, and SuperBee says wraps can be frozen but warns of freezer burn beyond a month. Bee's Wrap's FAQ does not cover freezing. For long-term freezing, a sealed bag is a better fit, and our reusable food bags review compares options such as Stasher and Zip Top.
What happened to Abeego?
Abeego was a well-known beeswax wrap brand, but its website now carries a banner reading 'Abeego is closed.' The site does not say whether orders are still being filled, so we left it out of this comparison. The product pages still list hemp and organic cotton wraps. If you already own Abeego wraps, normal cool-water care still applies. For a new purchase, choose a brand that is clearly trading.
