STEALTHO Patented Chair Wheels (Set of 5) vs Shepherd Hardware 2-Inch Office Chair Stem Caster, Black, Twin Wheel, 5-Pack (8741)
Which should you buy? Our verdict on both, pulled from our full The Best Office Chair Casters: 4 Compared (and One to Skip) comparison.
The STEALTHO set pairs the standard 11 mm by 22 mm grip-ring stem with a soft polyurethane wheel and caged precision bearings, which is the combination that works on hard floors as well as carpet. The Shepherd five-pack uses the same grip-ring fitting for far less, but its plastic twin wheels are a carpet part and the maker describes them that way.
STEALTHO Patented Chair Wheels (Set of 5)
Buy itA polyurethane rollerblade-style caster on the standard grip-ring stem, with the bearing and load specs actually published.
- Stem is published as 11 mm by 22 mm, which is the 7/16 in by 7/8 in grip-ring fitting most task chairs use.
- Polyurethane wheel is listed for hardwood, laminate, tile, parquet and carpet rather than one surface only.
- STEALTHO publishes ABEC-9 caged precision bearings and a 650 lb rating across the set of five.
- STEALTHO does not publish the wheel diameter, only an overall height of 3-1/2 in floor to collar, so compare that with your current casters.
- The maker states these do not fit IKEA chairs, which use a 10 mm stem.
- Sold as a five-caster set only, so a single broken caster means buying a whole set.
